I came across these bird whistles at a time when I was making a series of paintings on a forest near where I lived in 2002. The image in the Egg is made from one of a group of abstract photographic collages I put together in my sketchbook as I reflected on the impact our consumerism has on our forests and the wildlife in them. I was reminded of them recently because of Tim’s work for Madagascar. I have placed the Egg against the backdrop of a painting from my Sunfire series; it seemed appropriate as we also address the concerns of global warming on the environment.
